Few people know that Molise is the richest in truffles Italian region, especially in Tuber Magnatum Pico (more commonly known as white truffle) which is greatly appreciated all over the world.
Indeed more than 40% of Italian truffles comes from the little villages in the provinces of Campobasso and Isernia. The most popular one is San Pietro Avellana where, thanks to the uncontaminated habitat, the greatest amount of truffles can be found.
A 4 people family, in particular father and his son, has been nurturing the passion for truffles since 1984.
They wake up early in the morning, they search for the tubers with their hounds and find many of them in the area of Isernia, especially in San Pietro Avellana, their home village and land of white and black truffles.
Then they pick up the ripest ones, which are the best ones, neither too big nor too small; they wash them carefully , they grind them, mix them in local olive oil and enclose them in small jars.
After accurate researches, “Le Thujae di Villa Carel” has selected this family.
